Analytics and insights in one digital system are already well developed, widely available and extensively used by the global mining industry. This is clearly the first step towards deep analytics, which become possible when data from different systems are combined into one IIoT. In your EXPERIENCE, Firstly, what DEEPER analytics and insights are possible TODAY with the current systems we already have? and Secondly, What are the constraints to DEEP analytics and insights?
Current mining systems already have a vast amount of data to analyze, we need to define what that data means to different divisions within a mining operation. I think that pattern recognition is a great data analysis methodology that can benefit the industry, it would help to improve production output, risk and safety analysis, trends and edge based data mining.
The problem with getting this type of "deeper" analysis done is the quality of the data and the fact that most of this data is held within silos. It would be important to define what data would be required, how it would be normalized and where it would be processed.
Dale, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I absolutely agree with you on pattern recognition and the need to first improve data quality and breaking down the silos for deeper analytics. One possibility of deeper analytics is analysis of seismicity data to look for new patterns that can help with prediction of ground vibration events.

There are platforms available, like MineRP, that encompasses a 360 view on mine planning and that has the capability to serve data specific to the needs of other platforms, such as Deswick or Vulcan for the purposes of operational planning and efficiency. This data can be combined with active surveying information from a system such as the one developed by IDS Products and solutions for Geophysical, Mining, Civil Engineering and Security applications | IDS GeoRadar) as well as fleet management and collision awareness systems. All this information can be refined into a PowerBI dashboard to provide key insights into the life of mine and how mining activities can be optimized.
The biggest challenge, from my humble point of view of course, is to get various service providers to play along and provide the data that would make such an endeavor work. Data "ownership" has become a big topic in the mining industry lately, with OEMs claiming that the generated data falls part of their protected IP and others claiming that the technology stack is closed source
